The Butchers Arms, Clearwell Coleford

The Butchers Arms is a 13th century Inn and restaurant with accommodation. Built using Forest stone the building is one you won't forget with traditional beamed ceilings, stoned walls and a open log fire place, you'll feel right at home as soon as you walk in. We are located in the picturesque village of Clearwell. The village is on the entrance to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley where we boast walking, canoeing, climbing, caving, cycling and mountain biking. There are many specialists in the area who can help you realise your ambitions. We have a wealth of attractions to welcome you from museums to mazes, from show caves to steam trains. When that is all said and done come back to us and enjoy the long summer evenings outside in our beer garden or in the winter warm up around our open log fire and enjoy some excellent food, real ales and fine wine.

Directions

From South and South East:Take M4 towards Wales. At Junction 21 turn onto M48 for Chepstow. Go over bridge (£5.10 for cars) and turn off at Junction 2 signed M48 Chepstow.At the roundabout take A48 in the direction of Gloucester. Follow this road over the old bridge and take the B4228 to Coleford and The Forest of Dean. Follow this road for about 10 miles throught St Briavels and some 2 miles further on Clearwell is signposted on your left. Come down the hill into Clearwell turn right at the cross The Butchers Arms is 200 yards on the left From the Midlands:Take the M5 south at Junction 8. Take M50 to Ross-on-Wye and carry on A40 to Monmouth. From Monmouth take A466 for Chepstow. After 3 miles turn left at Redbrook on B4231. Go through Newland, Clearwell is 2 miles further on. At the cross in Clearwell turn left, The Butchers Arms is 200 yards along the road on the left.From Glouester:Take A48 south towards Chepstow and after about 12 miles turn right to Lydney. Turn right (opposite Tesco) on to B4231 to Coleford. Two miles after Bream turn right at the T junction and then first left to Clearwell. Come down the hill into Clearwell turn right at the cross. The Butchers Arms is 200 yards on the left From the West:Take M4 twards Severn Bridge. At junction 23 turn off onto M48 to Chepstow. At the roundabout take A48 in the direction of Gloucester.
